Yes, the Vimron service also works outside the territory of the Slovak Republic. It uses the global network of mobile operators with NB-IoT or LTE-M technology, so it will be available practically anywhere in the world where there is network coverage of a mobile operator with this technology. The current list of countries in which you can use Vimron services and the mobile operator supports the NB-IoT or LTE-M network can be found at www.vimron.com/coverage-nb-iot. We are constantly expanding and updating this list.

The accuracy of information about the current location depends on the quality of the GPS signal, which can be affected by various factors, such as the density of vegetation, the surrounding infrastructure of buildings, obstacles, weather or a strong electromagnetic field in the vicinity, etc. VIMRON uses the current combination of GNSS technologies for positioning, including GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO to ensure the highest possible location accuracy. Under ideal conditions, the position accuracy can be in the range of several meters.

Location on the Vimron service works using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), namely GPS, GLONASS or Galileo. The device sends its location via mobile data (LTE-M or NB-IoT) to the cloud, where the data is processed and presented to the user in real time on maps and graphs. The user can thus track the location of his equipment and property, not only in real time, but also track their movement from history.

No, wiretapping is not part of the Vimron service. Vimron serves to track and locate property or persons on which the device is placed. The time it takes for the device to find a GPS signal depends on many factors, including weather, location, and surrounding environment. In ideal conditions, finding a GPS signal can take only a few seconds, but on first launch, or in worse conditions, it can take several minutes. If you are in a room or under a roof, it can delay or even make it impossible to find a signal. We recommend using the device in an open area outside and ideally with a view of the sky to minimize the delay in searching for a signal.

If the device loses network connection, no data is sent to the Vimron IoT Platform, but the device stores the data in its memory and the data is sent when the connection is restored.

If the GPS signal is lost, the device still works based on the last known location it was able to capture. In that case, the device sends data about its last known location and motion information based on the motion sensor.

You can check the battery status of Vimron Personal GPS Tracker NB-IoT in two ways:

  • Through the Vimron IoT Platform:

After logging in to the Vimron IoT Platform, in the “Assets” section, information about the remaining battery capacity can be found for each asset, which is regularly updated depending on the current state of the battery. Also, if the battery reaches a critically low state, a notification will be sent to the user.

  • Through the battery symbol on the device:

If you press the “SOS” button on the device once, the battery symbol will start flashing. The battery symbol shows the number of flashes that correspond to the number of tens of percent of the battery capacity. For example, if the battery symbol flashes 5 times, it means that the battery capacity is 50%.

The Vimron Personal GPS Tracker NB-IoT is charged using the included microUSB cable or a Qi wireless charger. The total time to charge the device depends on the state of the battery, but it usually takes several hours. After the device is fully charged, the battery symbol will turn off and the device will work for several months with average use. It is important to remember to charge your device only with an original microUSB cable from Vimron to avoid unwanted charging issues.

Vimron’s Personal GPS Tracker NB-IoT device has an extremely long battery life on a single charge. Depending on the setting of the data sending interval, it can last 3 to 12 months in operation. This interval can be set according to the user’s needs, which can affect the overall battery life. With normal operation and the lowest data sending interval setting (1 minute while moving, 12 hours while stationary), the device should last at least 3 months without the need for charging.

The duration of the device depends on the location sending interval settings and other factors such as GPS signal quality, NB-IoT network, ambient temperature, etc. Under optimal conditions and setting the data sending interval every minute, the device can last several weeks to months on a single charge. However, in general, the shorter the data sending interval is set, the faster the battery drains and the more often it needs to be charged.

When using the Personal GPS Tracker NB-IoT 2 times a day for about 2 hours, the device should last about 3 months, but this life may vary depending on the specific conditions of use, such as data transmission frequency, GPS signal quality and NB-IoT networks and ambient temperature. It is also important to remember that with a higher frequency of use, the device will need to be charged more often.

The SOS button is a fast and reliable way to raise an emergency alarm in case of danger or need for immediate help. The button is located on the device and is activated by pressing it three times in a short interval. After the alarm is correctly activated, the battery and signal symbols will light up three times in a row and the device will immediately start sending information about the location of the person in need only to preset phone numbers, e-mail addresses of family members or rescue teams.

The SOS function is an additional function and does not include connection to emergency services, police or medical services. Notifications are only shown to users whose numbers are previously set up in the Vimron IoT Platform portal.

The device is not certified for use in crisis situations and is not certified by any rescue or safety authority.

You can activate the “emergency alarm” function on the Vimron Personal GPS Tracker NB-IoT device using the SOS button. Just press the SOS button three times in a row, each time within one second. When the button is pressed correctly, the battery and signal symbols will flash three times in succession, confirming that the emergency alarm has been successfully activated. In this way, the device sends an SOS message with the current location to the Vimron IoT Platform portal, and the user receives a notification that he has set about the emergency. Don’t forget to set up a notification before using this functionality in the Vimron IoT Platform portal. The “emergency alarm” function is especially suitable in the case of dangerous situations or accidents, when it is necessary to quickly provide help and locate a person in need.

If you want to change the phone number for the SOS button, you can do it through the Vimron IoT Platform portal or by calling Vimron technical support. To change the phone number on the Vimron IoT Platform portal, log in to your account and select the device for which you want to change the phone number. Then, in a specific asset, click on the “Alarms” option, where you can change the phone number for SOS notification in the “Reactions” item.

If you want to change the phone number for the SOS button through Vimron technical support, you can contact them by email or phone to request a change. After confirming your identity and verifying your data, technical support will help you change the phone number for the SOS button.

The SOS button on the Vimron Personal GPS Tracker NB-IoT device serves to immediately report a dangerous situation to the Vimron IoT Platform and for set contacts. After pressing the button, an emergency notification is sent to the selected phone number or e-mail, which contains the current location of the device and the time the button was pressed.

If you press the SOS button by mistake, the notification will be sent to the set contacts. Inform them about the mistaken push of the button and to clarify the situation that you are not in an emergency.
